Harvest Right Freeze Dryers

How does a Harvest Right Freeze Dryer work?

  1. You place your raw or cooked foods in your home freeze dryer where they are frozen between -30 and -50 degrees Fahrenheit. Simply place the food on your stainless steel trays, place them inside, close the door and press start.
  2. Once the food is frozen, the freeze dryer will create a vacuum in the food chamber.
  3. The food is gradually warmed and the water then turns to vapour and evaporates out of the food (this is called sublimation).
  4. When it has reached the necessary dry time and completed the freeze-dry cycle the freeze dryer will sound an audible beep to let you know the process is complete.
  5. You can then remove your freeze-dried food from the dryer and place it in a vacuum-sealed container that is oxygen and moisture proof which will ensure freshness until it is opened. Mylar Bags work best for this. It's also recommended to place oxygen absorbers into the bag with your freeze dried food.
  6. Then you can re-hydrate the food by adding water to it when you're ready to eat it. This regains the foods original fresh flavour, texture, aroma and appearance! You can also eat many foods in their freeze dried form. Freeze-drying fruits are especially delicious, it's crunchy and maintains it's delicious original flavor.

Freeze drying has become increasingly popular in recent years as a way to preserve food while retaining its nutritional value and flavor. And with the Harvest Right Freeze Dryer, anyone can now enjoy the benefits of this preservation method from the comfort of their own home.

While most people associate freeze drying with fruits and vegetables, the truth is that this method can be used on a wide variety of foods, including some surprising options that you might not have considered before. Here are some surprising foods that can be freeze dried using a Harvest Right Freeze Dryer.

Ice Cream & Greek Yogurt

Have you ever wished that you could enjoy your favourite ice cream or Greek yogurt long after it has expired? With a Harvest Right Freeze Dryer, you can. Because freeze drying preserves food by first freezing it to -30 and -50 degrees, then slowly sublimating (evaporating) out the liquid in a vacuum state, you can literally freeze dry a scoop of ice cream and save it for later. In fact, you can even turn your favourite yogurt into a flavour-packed powder to add to smoothies, pancakes, or other dishes.

Leafy Greens

Leafy greens like kale and spinach are notoriously difficult to preserve, but with a Harvest Right Freeze Dryer, you can turn them into delicious, healthy snacks that will last for months. Freeze-dried kale with a spritz of olive oil and some seasonings makes a perfect, healthy chip. Or, with just a spritz of water from a squirt bottle, they can be tossed with berries and nuts to make a perfect salad. And best of all, you'll be able to enjoy the taste and health benefits of garden-fresh greens all year long.

Eggs (raw and cooked)

Eggs are a staple in many households, but they can be difficult to preserve. Luckily, a Harvest Right Freeze Dryer can help. Raw eggs can be whisked, freeze dried and kept in their powdered form to be used in all baking and cooking recipes (2 tablespoons of egg powder equals one egg). Or, eggs can be freeze dried in their scrambled state and easily re-hydrated with a little water in a hot skillet. With a freeze dryer, you'll never have to throw out old eggs again, and you'll always be prepared for an impromptu brunch or get-together.

Meats (raw and cooked)

Meat is another food that can be difficult to preserve, but with a Harvest Right Freeze Dryer, it's easy. It doesn't matter whether the meat has been cooked or is raw, just place thick or thinly sliced pieces on your trays and let the freeze dryer do the rest. When you re-hydrate the meat, it will look the same as it did before you freeze dried it and it will have all its nutritional value. If it has been cooked prior to drying, you can easily submerge the meat in water, pat it off with a paper towel and voila — it's ready to put on sandwiches, in soups, casseroles or by itself on a plate with freeze-dried mashed potatoes and gravy.

In conclusion, a Harvest Right Freeze Dryer is an investment that can pay off in many ways. Not only can you preserve your favorite fruits and vegetables, but you can also enjoy surprising foods like ice cream, yogurt, leafy greens, eggs, and meats for years to come. With a little creativity and experimentation, you'll be able to create your own unique, delicious freeze-dried foods that are sure to impress your family and friends.
